Thomas Edison was a great inventor and businessman of America. His full name was Thomas Alva Edison. Thomas Edison has discovered many things like electric bulb, phonograph. Edison is credited with setting up the world's first laboratory. Thomas Edison is counted among the world's greatest inventors because he is the only person in America to have 1093 patents. 

Thomas Alva Edison Early Life

Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847, in the city of Milan, Ohio, USA. His mother's name was Nancy Matthews and his father's name was Samuel Ogden Edison. Thomas Edison was the youngest of seven siblings. He did not start speaking until he was 4 years old due to hearing loss. After the age of 4, he slowly started speaking.

Education

His schooling lasted only 12 weeks. Edison's hearing had been impaired since childhood. He could not understand any lesson at a time because of his lack of hearing. Also, due to his inquisitive nature, he used to ask many questions to the teachers.

Tired of his questions, one of his teachers called him 'retarded'. When this matter reached Edison's mother, she felt so bad that she expelled Edison from school. She was a teacher, so she started teaching him at home.

Personal Life of Thomas Alva Edison

In 1871, on Christmas Eve, 24-year-old Edison married 16-year-old Mary Stillwell. Within two months of meeting Mary, Edison proposed to her for marriage. He had three children with Mary. Edison's wife, Mary, died in 1884 after a prolonged illness. After his wife's death, Edison left Melano Park and remarried in 1886 to Mina Miller, living in a home in Llewellyn Park, West Orange

Professional Career (Thomas Alva Edison Professional Career)

Thomas Edison started selling newspapers near a railway station at the age of about 12. After doing this work, Thomas Edison built a small laboratory with the remaining money.

In which Thomas Edison used to experiment. After this, Thomas Edison did more work and with the remaining money bought the chemical materials to be used in the laboratory. Thomas Alva used to experiment in Edison's laboratory for the rest of his time after completing newspapers.

Thomas Alva Edison believed. That if someone makes continuous efforts on the path of improvement. So he can do something big in his coming time. After this Thomas Edison sold newspapers at the railway station till the age of 15.

After this, started the work of publishing a newspaper of its own. As usual he was selling newspapers. Then the master of the railway station told him about the telegram and then Thomas Edison worked as a telephone operator until the age of 20.

Even after this Thomas Alva Edison discovered the Universal Stock Printer. After all these discoveries, Thomas Edison did not sit still. He invented many things between 1870 and 1876 and was successful in his work.

Thomas Edison continued this work for about 2 years, after which Thomas Edison started the search for the electric bulb. Thomas Edison made about 1000 types of electricity. But the sister failed.

But so strong was Thomas Edison's astonishing fortitude, strength and courage. Even after failing so many times, Thomas Edison did not give up. And made every effort to take his work towards success.

Eventually the invention of the electric bulb by Thomas Edison was completed on 21 October 1879. He lit the electric bulb for more than 40 hours. This invention is the biggest gift to the world by Thomas Edison.
