Sunil Gavaskar is a former Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in the history of cricket. He was born on July 10, 1949 in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. Gavaskar made his international debut in 1971 against England and went on to play until 1987. He is the first player to score 10,000 Test runs and held the record for the most Test runs and most Test centuries by an opening batsman until 21st century.
